A distinctive feature of De Wetshof’s Chardonnay wines is their ability to age to the levels of spectacular white wine complexity for which this noble grape variety is famous. Upon release, our wines are ready for enjoyment, showing their unique individual features, the result of each wine’s place of origin from a specific parcel of De Wetshof terroir, as well as the legacy of Chardonnay winemaking in our cellar.

However, the very nature of De Wetshof’s Chardonnays lend them to maturing to further magnificence in the bottle. After a few added years, the wines gain a beguiling complexity as layers of tertiary flavours develop, adding a cloak of refined elegance and spectacular maturity for which Chardonnay is famous.

It has therefore become a part of De Wetshof’s ethos to keep a number of wines back in our vinoteque and tasting them regularly to measure their maturation abiliity. Once certain excellent examples of aged De Wetshof Chardonnays have been identified, we offer these selected bottles to our wine club members and selected customers.
